The printhead on the A3 DTF Printer is a very important part of the printer. This section allows the printing process on the Pet film which will later be transferred to t-shirts, hats, paying and other media. If the printhead is not working properly, you definitely need to replace it so that the printer can operate again.

Removing Old Printhead Before Replacing It

You can also service it first before replacing it with a new printhead, namely by sucking the printhead nozzle poles one by one and then pushing them with liquid cleaner. This method is done if in mild handling it can no longer be done.

There are several treatments that can be done before deciding to replace the printhead, namely try flushing it first or soaking the printhead in a special cleaning fluid to soak the printhead. If flushing doesn’t help, then the next option is to replace the printhead.

1. Before starting the replacement process, first turn off the A3 DTF printer. Then turn on the printer without turning on the printer module, that’s the first way. The second way, you, can turn on the DTF printer after the cartridge housing moves, then unplug the power cable.

2. After the power cable is removed, the cartridge housing can be moved left and right, then position the cartridge housing towards the center of the printer or something that is easy to reach to lift the printhead. Can be shifted to the left a little.

3. How to replace the printhead on the next A3 DTF printer is to open the flex cable lock on the right side of the cartridge housing.

4. Use tweezers to open the flexi cable then press on the bottom first then press on the right and left. Then pull up to release the flexi cable lock.

5. The next step is to remove all the dampers or cartridges on the A3 DTF printer but do it one by one by prying the top of the cartridge.

6. Next, unlock the printhead by pulling it upwards. Use tweezers to unlock the printhead on the right and left before pulling the lock up. You will see three screws that lock the printhead on the printer.

7. Open all the screws on the printhead using a screwdriver. Lift the printhead up after you remove all the bolts.

8. After that remove the flexi cable connected to the printhead, there are 2 cables connected to the printhead, namely the small flexi cable and the large flexi cable, unplug it slowly.

9. When removing the flexi cable, do it carefully. Do not let the end of the flexi cable fall into other parts of the printer. If the end of the flexi cable hits another part of the printer, especially the wet part, the printer may experience an error when the flexi cable is reattached.

10. The printhead has been successfully removed and is ready to be replaced with a new one.

How to Replace Printheads on A3 DTF Printers

1. Open the new printhead and remove it from its package. Make sure the printhead packaging is still sealed to ensure authenticity. For an Original Epson L1800 Printhead, it is certain that the board on the printhead is green. Make sure the printhead also matches the printer you are using.

2. First clean the end of the printer flexi cable and make sure the end of the cable is not wet. Use a dry tissue when cleaning the end of the flexi cable. Then attach the large flexi cable first and follow it with the smaller printhead flexi cable.

3. Then insert the printhead into the cartridge housing or carriage unit. Then install the three printhead screws. Tighten the bolts one at a time but not too tight.

4. Install the printhead or cartridge latch by pushing it downwards until it clicks. After that, proceed with installing all the cartridges in their proper places.

5. How to replace the printhead on the next DTF printer is to try shifting the printhead left and right. If the printhead slides smoothly, attach the flexi cable lock to the right side of the printhead.

6. The next step is to turn on the printer and do head cleaning. The printer will also do the cleaning automatically. Wait until the head cleaning process is complete before performing a nozzle check.

7. After Head Cleaning is complete, press the F11 key on the computer keyboard to perform a nozzle check.

8. After that, insert the Pet Film upside down to see the results of the Nozzle Check on the Pet Film.

9. If the nozzle check results look good on the pet film, continue with a print test with the normal pet film position, which means the matte color is facing up.
